Our Story

I chopped my mom's 40-year-old wedding saree.

Wait!!!, hear me out.

My brother was getting married, and I stood in front of a wardrobe full of beautiful sarees with nothing to wear.

Everything I owned.. and everything I tried to buy.. was either too plain to matter or too much..the kind of saree that would make me look like I was trying to outshine the bride, which was the last thing I wanted.

I needed something that let me be important without ever overshadowing the bride.

I couldn't find it. So I altered my mother's old wedding saree until it became exactly that — a piece that let me stand tall in the room without stealing a single moment from the person the day belonged to.

That experience led me to build House of Sehej and Not So Bridal — our first collection

Why Sehej

Sehej is a word from Sikh tradition — a state of natural ease, poise that isn't forced or performed. It's the feeling of being exactly right without trying too hard.
